I sat down with my daughter Jahnyia and we talked all about her experience in the foster care system and her subsequent adoption into our home.
Jahnyia and her brother came into care at 2 and 3-year-old kids. Their biological father was murdered and their mother signed away her parental rights voluntarily. They have been with us since that traumatic time in their lives.
We sat down and talked about family and what it means to her – both bio and adoptive family. Her perspective is a unique one and she opened up a little bit about how she sees her life as it is and as it could have been.
